Terms of Service

Last updated: August 11, 2026

1. The marketplace

Student Helpers is a marketplace that helps local adults arrange short-term services with adult students. Users decide whether to post, apply, hire, and complete work. Student Helpers does not employ helpers or direct how work is performed. A user's legal work status can depend on the facts and applicable law; users are responsible for taxes, permits, licenses, insurance, and other obligations that apply to them.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter contracts, and provide accurate information. Students must submit acceptable student proof and pass identity review before accepting paid jobs.

3. Conduct

No harassment, discrimination, illegal activity, weapons, controlled substances, alcohol delivery, sexual services, childcare, passenger transportation, medical or legal services, or work that endangers a minor. Do not offer regulated or licensed trade work unless you are legally qualified. Off-platform payments may cause loss of platform payment protections.

4. User content and job listings

You are responsible for the photos, messages, reviews, job posts, profile details, and other content you submit. You may not upload content that is illegal, misleading, copyrighted by someone else, invasive of privacy, or unsafe. We may remove content, restrict accounts, or report activity when needed to protect users or comply with law.

5. AI-assisted features

Some optional features may use AI to help draft text or flag content for review. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. AI does not make final hiring, verification, payment, payout, refund, or dispute decisions. Users and authorized reviewers remain responsible for those decisions.

6. Payments

Customers pay in the app after choosing a student. Stripe processes payments and connected account payouts. Payment is not held in a bank-managed trust arrangement; the platform delays transfer according to the recorded job status. Fees and the expected student payout must be shown before payment. Refunds, disputes, reversals, and payout timing can be affected by Stripe, payment networks, banks, law, and the evidence available to the platform.

7. Cancellations

Customers may cancel before work is marked complete. A verified student no-show receives a full refund of the amount paid at checkout, including the disclosed processing amount. Student Helpers absorbs processing fees Stripe does not return. Repeated student no-shows may result in account suspension or removal.

8. Reviews and trust signals

Reviews, reliability streaks, completed-job counts, badges, student-status review, and identity review are based on available information. Verification is not a criminal background check, endorsement, or guarantee of safety, identity, enrollment, or future performance. Do not manipulate reviews or create fake activity.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Student Helpers infringes your copyright, email support@studenthelpers.app with the work, the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We may remove the content and may terminate repeat infringers.

10. Dispute resolution

Contact support first so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived. Any arbitration agreement or class action waiver will apply only if it is presented with complete rules, a fair opt-out process, and other disclosures required by law.

11. Liability

The platform is provided "as is." We are not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of work performed, the truth of any listing, or the ability of either party to complete a transaction. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to fees paid to us in the prior 12 months.

12. Termination

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms. You may close your account at any time from Account settings. Account closure may be delayed when there are active jobs, held payments, pending payouts, or disputes. Limited transaction, tax, fraud-prevention, and safety records may be retained when reasonably necessary or legally required.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
