Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026 · Version 2026-09-21.2

1. What we collect

We collect what's needed to run the marketplace: your name, email, phone (optional), profile details, school email (for students), government ID images submitted for verification, job posts and applications, saved searches, student connections, messages you send, location at check-in (when you opt in), and payment records (handled by Stripe — we never see full card numbers). We also record the terms and privacy-policy versions presented at signup, your agreement and age confirmation, and the time our server receives them.

2. App analytics and product data

We collect basic in-app events such as page views, onboarding progress, job-post attempts, applications, and review-prompt responses. We use this to understand drop-off points, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and measure whether users can complete the marketplace lifecycle.

3. How we use it

To create and secure your account, match customers with students, process payments through Stripe, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with the law, and improve the product. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. AI-assisted features

Optional AI services may help draft text or flag content for human review. We limit inputs to information needed for the requested feature. Student Helpers does not use AI as the sole decision-maker for hiring, verification, payment, payout, refund, or dispute outcomes.

5. Who can see what

Public profile details such as your display name, profile photo, bio, and ratings may be publicly viewable or shared. Your private contact details are not part of that public profile. Messages are available to participants and authorized staff for support, safety, fraud prevention, or legal needs. Verification documents are processed by the verification provider and accessible through restricted account and review tools. Exact job locations and private job photos are restricted to authorized job participants and administrators; avoid putting private addresses in public job descriptions.

6. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Card details are sent directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that data. We receive payment and payout status, amounts, and masked destination details such as a bank name and last four digits.

7. Service providers

We use service providers to operate the app, including Supabase for database and account services, Cloudflare for hosting and security, Stripe for payments and payouts, Apple and email providers for app and account delivery, and an AI provider only when an AI-assisted feature is invoked. They may process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments.

8. Photos, messages, and reviews

Job photos, profile photos, messages, applications, and reviews are stored so the marketplace can function, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and show trust signals like completed jobs and streaks. You can request deletion, but we may retain limited records when required for safety, payment, tax, legal, or fraud-prevention reasons.

9. Retention, export, and deletion

We keep account data while your account is active. You can export your core marketplace data or request account deletion from Account settings. Active jobs, held funds, pending payouts, or disputes must be resolved first. We may retain limited transaction, moderation, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute records when reasonably necessary or legally required.

10. Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, or ask us to delete eligible account data from Account settings. Requests that require review show an estimated completion date in the app. You may also contact support@studenthelpers.app for help. Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your information. We may verify your identity and an authorized representative’s authority before acting. If we deny a request, reply to ask for an appeal; you may also contact your state attorney general. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and will not penalize you for exercising protected privacy rights.

11. Children

Student Helpers is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account or provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate and remove the information as appropriate.

12. Security

We use access controls, encrypted connections, restricted administrative tools, and payment providers designed to protect sensitive data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or loss will never occur.

13. Location and policy changes

With your device permission, GPS check-in records precise location to verify arrival. Job addresses and general city or ZIP information are also used to arrange work. You may deny or withdraw device location permission in Settings, although GPS check-in will then be unavailable. We will identify policy updates by date and notify you of material changes; we will request additional consent where required.

14. Identity verification

Stripe Identity collects a government ID and a matching selfie to verify identity and help prevent fraud. Stripe uses biometric information to compare the selfie with the ID photo and presents its own consent notice before that processing. We receive verification results and may access verification information through restricted review tools. Stripe also acts as an independent controller for some identity data. Read Stripe’s Privacy Policy for its practices. Contact support@studenthelpers.app for requests concerning our records, and privacy@stripe.com for information or deletion requests concerning data Stripe controls.
